School Social Worker Role
Our goals as Social Workers within the school setting are to strengthen the social/emotional well-being of all students in order to enhance academic and personal goals.
Our responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Assessments
- Counseling
- Conflict mediation and resiliency building
- Alternatives to violence and gangs (Secondary Level)
- Attendance Monitoring
- Community referral and liason work
- Child abuse reporting
- School dropout (Secondary level)
- Transition Planning
- Youth suicide prevention and intervention
- Crisis intervention
- Child and family advocacy
- Collaboration with school personnel
- Substance Abuse Referrals
- Members of the RTI (Response to Intervention) Team
- Members of the PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention Supports) Team
- Members of the CSE (Committee on Special Education)
