What is a mandated reporter?

A mandated reporter is someone who is required by law to report instances of suspected child abuse or maltreatment.

The New York State Central Registry determines whether or not the local Child Protective Agency will investigate when a report is made.

All school personnel, including school social workers, are mandated reporters.
